Introduction. Animal cruelty has always existed. Since ancient times, people have not had the culture of taking care of animals and even today that we have the knowledge and every type of source of information, this happens all over the world. This is a very unpleasant situation because, just like us, they also feel pain; Unfortunately, many people don't understand this fact, or simply don't care. I became a vegetarian after realizing that animals are afraid, cold, hungry and unhappy like us. I have a deep sensitivity for vegetarianism and the animal kingdom. It was my dog Boycott who led me to question the right of humans to eat other sentient beings (Chavez, 1999). Clearly, I'm not the only one against animal abuse; there are many people fighting to put an end to this terrible thing, we must, in a special way, work twice as hard to help people understand that animals are our fellow humans, that we must protect them and love them as we love ourselves (Montero, 2000 ). As Gandhi once said: “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” (Gandhi, 1937). A person or an entire nation can be defined by the way they treat animals, their entire personality can be judged by the simple act of mistreating an animal, they don't understand that they are just like us emotionally speaking. They can even be heard! I wish people would change their minds about animals and start loving them just like they love their family or friends. The true moral test of humanity, its fundamental test... consists in its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: the animals (Kundera, 2002). How would you feel if they bullied you, hit you, kicked you and got angry... .middle of paper ......d defeat the abusers forever. The animals will always thank us and it will be nice to know that we have done something for our planet and for those who need us most. Animals have the same right to live freely. Don't let people make it seem like it's something normal and something that should be accepted by society. We have to do something before it's too late. We cut the throat of a calf and hang it by its heels to bleed to death so that our veal cutlet turns white; we nail geese to a board and fill them with food because we like the taste of liver disease; we cut birds to pieces to decorate our women's hats; we mutilate domestic animals for no reason other than to follow an instinctively cruel fashion; and we connive at the most abominable tortures in the hope of discovering through them some magical cure for our diseases. (Shaw, Man and Superman, 1999).
