I chose the Global Health Pathway to further explore the essential topic from a practical perspective and to recognize vital connections and relationships with the courses I took at Santa Clara University. The fundamental theme of the path emphasizes the universal improvement of public health, the reduction of inequalities and the prevention of chronic diseases. The overall connection between the Global Health Pathway theme and the courses I have taken is basically providing the general public with global awareness of public health issues from a socioeconomic, environmental, and biological perspective. Courses such as Public Health Science 1: Human Health and Disease and Biology 179: Cancer Biology can illustrate a vital connection to the track theme. For example, the Public Health Science 1: Human Health and Disease course focuses on improving the prevention of preventable diseases by designing specific interventions to target certain chronic diseases that affect a specific population. The course refers to the theme of the Global Health Pathway by highlighting multiple public health problems from a socioeconomic and environmental point of view by providing awareness to the general population and finding solutions to prevent public health problems. Additionally, the Biology 179: Cancer Biology course focused on the molecular perspective behind cancer and the processes of disease acquisition. The course emerges with the theme of the Global Health Pathway by learning preventable processes to fight cancer and providing awareness to individuals from a biological perspective to prevent the development of the disease. Both courses introduce the phenomenon of raising awareness about a given public health issue to ... middle of paper ... sanitation, infrastructure and hygiene can significantly reduce global health disparities around the world. Furthermore, research is another key element in ensuring the quality of human health of individuals. I admire researchers who are committed to finding answers to combat chronic diseases that occur around the world. I have great respect for researchers who work together to discover new diseases and treatments that affect individuals globally and not just to meet the needs of one country. It is my desire to become one of those researchers who in the next ten years will contribute to global health and the reduction of global health inequalities in order to provide equality in healthcare for every human being living in the world. We must work together, globally, and collaborate to end health inequalities and pursue human equality for the sake of social justice.
