The primary challenge Rocky Road School District is currently facing is numerous lawsuits from former parents and staff. As well as the lack of teamwork displayed within the district. Having a meeting with all the principals of the Rocky Road district is the most important thing. Negotiating teacher contracts and hiring new qualified teachers who will help support test scores for the district. Giving parents the feeling that their children are receiving a good education is a key challenge. My main challenge will be to convince all parties involved in the movement to “Strive for Excellence”. Our primary concern is ensuring that faculty, staff, students, parents and the community work together to ensure the success of the Rocky Road School District. It takes a team to resolve such a complicated situation. My three-year plan is called the Strive for Excellence plan. For the first two years I will focus on the decline in test scores over the last three years. By having all staff view all 2,800 students who were below average for all three years. The request for mandatory training for all teachers and staff should be completed after reviewing the data. This way they are able to identify the specific strengths and weaknesses of their students. The teacher will know where they need to focus their attention. (Sue W. Astley, 2016) School improvement is an evolving process that requires constant monitoring of progress and constant input. In the Rocky Road School District, a special computer program is needed to retrieve records for any student or class more efficiently. This will also help track your progress over the two years. A committee of parents and staff will be created to better understand the data, develop ways to raise scores, and maintain the…half of paper…required to regularly monitor each student's progress, work one-on-one with all students At least once a month, assign students strategies and tasks to increase fluency and understanding. With the support of the district, administration, faculty, staff, students and parents I can resolve this situation within my five-year contract. Ensuring our teachers have the pre-training, resources and knowledge to educate students in the Rocky Road School District. Creating and using a computerized program that will measure the progress of all students in the district. Interventions will be put in place for students with reading and math difficulties. The district will fund several teachers to tutor needy students before and after school. The plan will be in effect for two years and will be under review to be revised based on test scores at that time.
