Sustainable buildings are becoming a kind of necessity in today's world. As the demand for green building develops, the demand for green building materials also increases. Just as old techniques and building materials seem to disappear in the assemblage of things, they are now returning. Green building focuses on the efficiency of major resources such as water and energy. As the cost of sustainable materials and products is decreasing, green building appears to be the most cost-effective type of design and construction. Looking specifically at green materials and their impact on the production of structures, it is evident that they are the best choice for building materials. The use of green materials should be promoted because they are better for the environment, healthier for the consumer and better for the economy. Using green materials is better for the environment because they have a positive impact on the planet. Looking at our environment today we see a place that has faced massive climate change. Scientists have been concerned about global warming for decades. It is believed that the continuous increase in the earth's temperature is caused by the greenhouse effect (“Global Warming” 27). Building with eco-friendly materials produces significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions. Specifically, wood as a material for building products requires much less energy than other building products such as steel and concrete. The production of wood products results in a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants (“Benefits of Green Building”). Green building also involves a reduction in waste. In the United States, construction and demolition create a huge amount of solid waste. Green building limits waste production...... half of the paper ......07.
