Did this modern point of view benefit men and women equally after the Black Death? Why or why not? The Renaissance was a reaction to the consequences of the plague: due to the high mortality rate, the economy collapsed and the lands were left abandoned. This created opportunities for reform regarding religion, art and culture, and how money was distributed among those who survived. For example, I believe that the quality of life of both was not beneficial to the men and women who were equally affected by the plague and its consequences. There was the dissolution of the marriage due to illness. Life was seen from another perspective that allowed people to ignore what the Church thought about the family
