No matter which way we look, the world is growing with a greater demand for creative and distinctive constructions with strong infrastructure. Chiang Mai, the city where I currently live, is no different from the rest of the world, increasingly rich in buildings. Seeing the style of the city change in an environment with more human intervention made me realize that the shape of society is now in our hands. Along with growing concerns about natural disasters and population growth, I realized that civil engineers play a crucial role in every society, designing more efficient structures that can provide safety and happiness, which piqued my interest in be. Seeing the massive and aesthetic structures of The Great Wall of China and the Eiffel Tower with my own eyes intensely increased my interest in buildings.
