The Forgotten War, a war that would soon be forgotten, by almost everyone involved. The War of 1812, a war that lasted two years. A minor conflict between the Americans and Great Britain soon involved natives and Canadian settlers. Although so many amazing things happened during the war, Americans and British don't really remember some of the little details of the war. Although the war began in 1812, some of the causes of the development occurred years before the war was even considered. The British Orders Council in 1807 had brought down American trade, which led to embargoes, agreements, and policies on Americans ruined and angry about trade. One of the main initial reasons for the war was the Chesapeake Incident in 1807. The British had started practicing. They basically saw themselves as the center of the universe and thought they should be the ones to be proudly praised by everyone. America was proving that it did not need the British to be independent. America was very goal-oriented with their trade, so they wanted to do everything they could to make it work, even if it meant starting a war. The need to expand is in the blood of both sides and if it meant war, they would surely go to war. Although America lost many battles in the War of 1812, we never gave up once and fought until we got what we wanted, just like Madison said. It's hard to believe that so many amazing things happened in the War of 1812, but we don't talk about it as a huge war. When the war began and ended, the war was known as the “Second American Independence” at the time, so why don't we still remember? The question is still around. The Forgotten War should not be forgotten, it should not be dismissed as just another war, we Americans should believe that the War of 1812 was “America's Second War”.
