Plan Card“Our plans fail because they have no purpose. When a man does not know to which port he is going, no wind is the right wind” a famous quote by Seneca about our goal. It is a metaphor of achieving goal and objectives through good planning skills. You need to plan what you want to achieve and where you want to go. One of the most important things is to have good planning, before embarking on any project the first thing you should do is create a project plan. Planning can be defined as preparing a sequence of actions to achieve specific goals and objectives. According to Kerzner (2009), “in project planning it is desirable that the project manager is involved from the conception of the project through to its execution. It must be systematic, flexible to manage, strictly regulated through reviews and controls and capable of accepting multifunctional inputs (page 412)”. The importance of planning a project is to describe the work in a way that is easily identifiable to the project team member. One way to provide a clear description of a project is to prepare the project charter. A Guide to the Project Management Body Of Knowledge (2008), “is the process of developing a document that formally authorizes a project or phase and the initial requirements that meet the expectations of stakeholder needs” (p. 71). Preparing a project charter is the initial step for the project manager to initiate any project. In Project Charter we can describe the different components of projects. To start any project, preparing a project charter is the first step for the project manager. Some of the essential components are described below. Components of the Project Charter Scope: The first document that a project manager will put together with his team members is the sco...... middle of the sheet ...... and at the same pace and minimize the risk of confusion on roles, responsibilities and objectives of the project.
