Topic > Buckley Community Action Plan - 1579

The United States Air Force has a long and rich history; the branch was established on July 26, 1947. Since then, the Air Force community has grown and changed to adapt to the times. Today there are more than 320,000 active duty military personnel and thousands more reservists (Air Force Personnel Demographics, n.d.). With numbers this high it would be difficult for any organization to perfectly care for every aspect of their community. However, the Air Force is not in the same circumstances as a regular organization. The military faces other aspects of life that are extremely unique. One of the most difficult situations the military community faces is active conflict. There are very few careers in the world that can demand so much from their community. The military may require an individual to leave their family for much of the year, work in conditions most cannot imagine, and put their life at risk every second of the day. Dealing with situations like this will have different effects on each individual depending on how they process everything that happens to them. The Air Force has participated in more than ten conflicts since becoming a separate force. With each conflict, some of the community stationed in all different parts of the world that the Air Force promised to care for has become frayed and threadbare. Buckley is one of those places that people have been deploying to since the 1960s. Originally the area was purchased by Denver and donated to the Department of the Army (History/Buckley Visitors/Home, n.d.). Buckley became the Buckley Air National Guard Base and then was converted to an active duty base in 2000; since then it has continued to exist...... middle of paper......ce Personnel Centre.
