Since the ratification of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution by the states on December 6, 1865 it was supposed to be a great celebration of equal rights recognizing that all people are created equal and free from slavery. This type of crime committed against humanity was directed exclusively against some indifferences of racial, social or economic classification in America. However, this explicit 150-year-old constitutional right to remain free continues to be violated daily in the United States and internationally by the actions of criminal organizations, corporations, and governments with the epidemic of human trafficking. My intent is to raise awareness in our communities at the lowest possible level to protect our families from these criminals and organizations who continue to operate freely to manipulate people of all ages, races, genders, social or economic classifications through the means of new Modern slavery tactics which are better known as human trafficking. First, what actually declares human trafficking as a crime or interpreted as slavery? According to the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), it defines the term used by the United Nations as recruiting, transporting, transferring, harboring, or receiving persons for improper purposes, including forced labor or sexual exploitation. This includes whether or not the victim consents to these actions. (Office of Justice Programs, 2012) This internationally accepted definition used by the NIJ for human trafficking provides the legal system with a safe parameter of the law to prevent these criminal elements from using the content as a loophole in formulating the law to Avoid legal consequences from the justice systems both in America and internationally. The corruption report highlights the lack of control, victims have minimal personal possession of items, no financial ties to legitimate institutions such as banks, credit affiliations and the lack of actual currency. They often circulate in the public without having proper identification (driver's license, passports, visas, or SSN card) with guardians in close proximity who monitor their actions and what they say to outside sources. Even when victims come into contact with other people, victims' conversational skills show many inconsistencies in their knowledge of time, factors with familiar geographic location, and explaining themselves logically in general conversations that draw attention to them. These victims remain in a state of confusion due to the physical and psychological circumstances they encounter in any human trafficking
