In the darkest hours of World War II, people looked for encouragement, guidance, and even acceptance to keep moving forward. Many people discovered who they could trust and who they could follow. Through those difficult times came serious actions and tough decisions. In those dark days, two leaders stood out among all men. These two leaders were Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler. Because of their actions, Stalin and Hitler became two of the most feared totalitarian dictators of all time. In 1889 little Adolf Hitler was born. As a child, Hitler was fascinated by his mother. He often looked to her for guidance and protection. She protected him from his abusive father. Hitler despised his father and was horrified by him. His father would come home and beat little Hitler, leaving bruises and marks. As the years passed, Hitler referred to Germany as his mother, for whom he began to have a greater than normal love. On the other hand, he referred to Austria as his father, whom he despised. Hitler's negative views of other races and religions began in his late teens. He was influenced by political tensions and understood that only the strongest leader could save society from confusion and disaster. In the First Great War Hitler was on the front line. During one of the battles he was involved in a gas attack that blinded him, forcing him to be hospitalized for weeks. When he felt well, he was told that Germany had lost the war. For this reason he was emotionally destroyed and decided to enter politics. He firmly believed that Germany had lost the war to the Jews and communism. Adolf's hatred of Jews and communists was so strong that he considered them to be one word: "Jewish communism." To him there was no difference them... middle of paper... myself" (Stalin, Joseph). How could a man of great power be so influential, and then turn back and not even have faith in himself ?Many people will never understand, but some may believe that this happened because of Hitler's betrayal. Even though Stalin made great human sacrifices during World War II, the people of the Soviet Union followed him and respected him as a person of authority. .figure (Stalin, Joseph). From the beginning of time until the darkest days of history, people have managed to see the light, much violence has been cast upon the world always prevailed if it were not for these two leaders, history would have been completely different. Even though they both had very different political views, Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin will forever be known as two of the most feared totalitarian leaders in history...
