Francisco PizarroMany people, especially those living in present-day Peru, do not know who Francisco Pizarro is and what he did. There are many great and important things he did in life. He had a great impact on American history. He was a Spanish explorer and a conquistador in his early days. He, accompanied by a few of his men, managed to capture Atahualpa, emperor of the powerful Inca empire, and conquered the Inca empire in the year 1532. He was greatly responsible for the expansion of Spanish rule into the western part of South America and also explored the Pacific coast of America. These are some of the things that make it important. Today, people do not know whether Francisco Pizarro was born in early 1471 or late 1478 due to some confusion over his birth date. He was born in Trujillo, Spain, an area severely affected by poverty. He was an illegitimate son of Gonzalo Pizarro, a peasant and nobleman who fought in the war in Italy, and was also the son of Francisca Gonzales. In his early life, Francisco Pizarro lived with his mother where she worked as a maid in the Pizarro household. Growing up, he grew up with almost no formal education, meaning he could neither read nor write and was an illiterate child. After seeing that he was struggling to learn it, he decided to take care of his father's pigs and take care of his father's animals in the fields. He heard many great tales of the New World and was amazed at how these tales would describe that in the New World there was luck and great riches. After seeing that his father left him no inheritance, since he was an illegitimate child, he decided to become a soldier, go to war and follow in his father's footsteps... middle of paper.... .. Francisco, died at the age about 18 years old. The surviving daughter, Francisca, married her brother Hernando in 1552 and Hernando was now the last of the Pizarro brothers after Pizarro's death and had wished to keep all of the family fortune as he was the only remaining brother. Pizarro is honored in Peru with a statue of him in Lima and some streets and businesses are also named after him. All Peruvians know who he was and what he did, but many from today do not know who he is and what he did for Peru.
