Additionally, I took the opportunity to experience and understand the limitations of ideal engineering and practical human systems in achieving desired goals, including the limitations of manufacturing methods, production tolerances and performance minimums; and understand the importance of time and money in the engineering and manufacturing process of the food industry. Written communication skills are also essential engineering experiences gained through this project. Prior to the observations, I also studied the existing standard operating procedures for that position, comparing my observations with the document and using written communication skills to improve the structure and technique with which such documents were written in order to better convey the information . By updating the process, I fully understood the importance of workplace health and safety legislation and quality assurance checklists which are vital to manufacturing
