Macbeth was one of Shakespeare's most tragic heroes. He had flaws and weaknesses, he was very noble but he lost his good qualities through the game. He was brave and a noble courageous man who was corrupted by superstition, love and overwhelming enthusiasm. Three points that contributed to Macbeth's downfall are firstly the prophecy told by the three witches, Lady Macbeth's influence and manipulation, and finally Macbeth's long-standing enthusiasm to become king. He may have been the courageous hero at the beginning of the play, but he progressed into a downward spiral that caused his doom and turned him into a tragic hero. Macbeth was a strong nobleman. Together with Banquo they were the leaders of King Duncan's army. The captain describes Macbeth's strength and power that earned him the battles: "But all is too weak:/ For brave Macbeth - well he deserved that name - / Disdaining fortune, with his steel brandished, / That smoked with bloody execution, / Like that of value". the servant cut his way / until he confronted the slave; " (1.2.17-22). But then Lady Macbeth pressured Macbeth to kill Duncan to become king by calling him female and tearing down his self-esteem. «When you dared to do it, then you were a man;/And to be more than you were , you would be so much more of a man" (1.7.56-58). As he said this Macbeth lost courage, but when he fought with Macduff he regains some of his courage and strength. Macbeth had problems with hesitation, he was a very brave man but his easily persuaded personality became an obstacle to his activities. He talked about killing Duncan, he changed his mind several times before going through with it. He was the type of person who had to be pressured by someone like his wife or by wit... middle of paper... sooner than later, but by the time Macbeth did it it was too late He realizes that he was wrong, but now backing down was not an option because even though he was cruel and greedy he was still a noble in every way. “Why should I lay down the mad Rma and die / on my own sword? As I see the lives, the gashes are better for them.” Macbeth's death was strangely compassionate, you almost had to feel sorry for him. He was corrupt and ultimately had no choice but to commit murder. Macbeth begins as a noble, courageous warrior, who had great flaws that made him a tragic hero. He made some bad choices and let superstition, love and overwhelming enthusiasm overwhelm him and he lost the title of "Noble Man" and also lost love because of his cruel heart, longing to become King Works Cited Shakespeare, William and John Wilders.
