Maybe blacks are the majority of those on the receiving end. But since this is no longer the case, then why hasn't this idea changed? Even though, as highlighted in the film, people believe that post-racial America has finally arrived, black people continue to want to be seen as unequal. When a white woman was asked what she sees when she wakes up and looks in the mirror, she responded with “I see a woman” (Guengerich). When a black woman does the same, she says “I see a black woman” (Guengerich). The black woman cannot see herself only as a woman. This shows how black people are made to seem like a variant of the norm. White people are the norm. When objects are variants of each other, they are seen as less valuable. When a black woman can't even look in the mirror without seeing herself simply as a woman, but also sees herself as a variant of a woman, it shows how society has made black people feel like they are not equal, and white people probably see it anyway
