Special forms of tourism In recent decades other forms of tourism, also known as niche tourism, have become more popular, in particular:• Adventure tourism: tourism involving trips to regional rugged, or adventure sports such as mountaineering and hiking (tramping). • Agritourism: agriculture-based tourism, which helps support the local agricultural economy. • Ancestral tourism: (also known as genealogy tourism) is travel with the aim of tracing one's ancestors, visiting the birthplaces of these ancestors and sometimes learning about distant families. • Armchair tourism and virtual tourism: not physically traveling , but explore the world through the Internet, books, TV, etc.• Audio tourism: includes audio walking tours and other audio-guided forms of tourism, including audio museum guides and audio travel books.• Backpacking tourism is a term used for denote a form of low-cost independent international travel, differentiating it from other forms of tourism in particular by the following typical attributes: minimal budget use, longer duration of trips, use of public transport and multiple destinations/countries. The origin of the name comes from the backpacks that travelers on a budget generally carry in the interest of mobility and flexibility. • Bookshop tourism is a grassroots effort to support independent bookshops by promoting them as a travel destination. • Creative tourism is a new form of tourism that allows visitors to develop their creative potential and get closer to local people, through informal participation in practical workshops that draw on the culture of their holiday destinations. • Cultural tourism: includes urban tourism, visiting historic or interesting cities and experiencing their cultural heritages. This type of tourism can also include specialized cultural experiences, such as art museum tourism where the tourist visits many art museums during the tour, or opera tourism where the tourist sees many operas or concerts during the tours. • Coastal tourism involves tourism products located along Coastal environments – due to the limited extent of coastal environments, they are often among the first places to experience tourist congestion in a region. • Dark tourism: is travel to places associated with death and suffering.
