The Chocolate War is a book written by Robert Cormier. It's about a teenager named Jerry and his life as an individual in an all-boys Catholic school called Trinity. Every year the school sells chocolates to raise funds. Each student is expected to sell fifty boxes, and everyone does, except Jerry. Jerry was forced not to sell chocolates for 10 days by the Vigils, a school gang. At first that's what he planned to do, but as the 10 days passed, Jerry began to feel in control of his life and decided to continue not selling. In doing so, Jerry disobeyed the Vigils and made them look like a bunch of fools. Jerry is a fourteen-year-old freshman at Trinity. He is 1.70 meters tall and weighs 65 kilos. He plays football for the school team. His mother recently died of cancer and he lives alone with his father. While dealing with his mother's death, Jerry felt he had absolutely no power or control. throughout his life, that is, until he stood up to the Vigils by refusing to sell chocolates. Archie is part of the Vigils. It plays the role of assignor. For this job he has to select students and assign them case tasks, he assigned Jerry the task of not selling chocolates for 10 days. Archie is a very powerful and manipulative person and can turn someone against another in the blink of an eye, just like when Jerry extended his tenure. it will be shown how Archie transformed Jerry from a hero to an outcast and finally to a victim, Jerry became a hero to everyone in Trinity. A hero by definition being a man or boy admired for his courage, his great deeds or his noble qualities In this case they admired him for his courage in standing up to his brother Leon and refusing to sell the chocolates, something that everyone wanted to do it, but never had the courage. While attending the first day of the chocolate sales, Brother Leon looked at each boy's name and they had to answer yes or no. Yes, in the sense that they would sell the chocolates and not in the sense that they wouldn't. All the kids said yes, except Jerry, who said no. Brother Leon didn't just let him be, he pressured him, he tried to make him feel guilty for not selling, he tried to make him feel guilty.
