More research is underway on this virus due to the discovery of new strains (1). The great genetic diversity of Norovirus is caused by errors in RNA replication and recombination between associated RNA viruses (2). Norovirus genogroups I and II are the most common cause of gastroenteritis worldwide and in all ages (2). GII-4 has been found to be the most prevalent Norovirus strain worldwide (1). Norovirus outbreaks commonly occur in elderly homes or hospitals, but can also occur in schools, on cruises, or any place that serves food (2).
