In this self-reflection essay I will discuss all the concepts I have learned in the leadership lessons. This essay reflects thoughtful insights drawn from class discussions. I learned the importance of employee motivation and empowerment in an organization. Motivational forces are of two types. One is extrinsic motivational forces and the other is intrinsic motivational forces. These forces drive an individual to pursue a desired goal or objective. Then we also discussed the simple model of motivation. According to this simple model of motivation, first comes the need, then the behavior, and finally the reward. First, individuals determine their own desires to satisfy their needs. Then come the actions or activities through which these needs are satisfied. Finally, come the rewards received based on individuals' performance. If the feedback received is good, the individual will continue to behave in the same way. Furthermore, there are two types of rewards, including intrinsic rewards and extrinsic rewards. Intrinsic rewards involve individuals' internal satisfaction after achieving good results in tasks or goals. Extrinsic rewards include bonuses, promotions, etc. I also learned about the different theories presented about needs. The first theory is the hierarchy of needs. According to this theory, the needs of individuals are present in a hierarchical manner, with the most essential need to be satisfied coming first. The first includes the physiological needs, then the security needs, then the belonging needs, the esteem needs and finally the self-realization needs. The other theories discussed include Herzberg's t... middle of paper... planning which is a plan of action, and the last fourth step is destiny which is support. Major organizational change can occur through innovation. Innovation terms include creativity, idea incubator, corporate entrepreneurship, idea champions, etc. The characteristics of the innovative organization and the creative individual. There are two types of brainstorming. One is simple brainstorming and the second is electronic brainstorming. Electronic brainstorming involves networking computers and is also known as brainwriting. The concept of downsizing which involves reducing the organizational workforce was also learned. The debate on the change of management also took place in class. All of these concepts have helped me learn and understand leadership. I am practicing all these concepts in real life to become a better leader in the future.
