Topic > ||||Introduction. There are many types of theories that connect child development and learning, such as attachment theory, ecological theory, sociocultural theory, cognitive development theory. I will address these aspects and give examples of how they might affect the child's learning and development in the care center and I will also link them to articles and readings that also mention early brain development and I will talk about a recent study that caught my attention . Attachment Theory John Bowlbys Attachment The theory (1977) has influenced the way we care for children and infants in the centre, interacting and creating an emotional bond. Caregivers should be sensitive and supportive of the child and the distress he or she may be in after forming attachment with their primary caregiver, who in Bowlby's theory should be the mother. With this attachment theory the child has different stages and each of these stages is important for the child's development and learning. Attachment in centers can be somewhat controversial. Some people think that excessive attachment given to the child in the center may make it difficult for the child to settle in the center if the person (teacher) to whom he was attached is not present. On the other hand I think that attachment for a child is important because it gives the child a place to go or a person to turn to if something in life is really bothering them. Some kids don't have the confidence to go up to a strange teacher, actually not, and tell them that they care about being angry or being bullied by some kids in the class, then having that support person or person who they trust will actually help the child.Bronfrenbrenner's Ecological Theory of DevelopmentBronfrenbrenner's theory (1977) taught us that children grow and develop with...... middle of paper...... someone attached to a child and creates a relationship of trust is that the teacher or center should come on the days when that certain child is there. Which would be difficult if it were only done part time, since even if a child changed days they would have to create a new attachment to another caregiver in the center or even if the teacher wanted to have a day off because they are sick, the center would not be able to settle the children as they would only trust a teacher. I think relationships are important for every child and human being, Te Wāriki (Ministry of Education, 1996) also believes that relationships are an important part of every child's life learning and development. This New Zealand founding document is primarily about relationships, each focus and strand of Te Whariki contains the importance of social and educational relationships.
