Antigone and Electra showed the reality of the 5th century by showing the female conflict to the public. Antigone is the famous comedy written by Sophocles. Antigone is the story of Oedipus' daughter and sister and her mother Jocasta. Thus, Antigone portrays the three important roles of women in society: daughter, sister, and mother. In Antigone the conflicts between family and polis, male and female are noted and discussed and the definition of family and state is explained. Obedience and disobedience are also the main factor between Antigone's two sisters. The female characters of the play are Antigone and Ismene. Sophocles portrayed
