Topic > Belittling America: The Decline of Education in the United States

The human mind is perhaps the largest object on earth, animate or inanimate, but without the proper training, the mind is a relatively useless tool. Through the development of formal educational systems, humans as a whole have sought to ensure the training of all minds so as to continue prosperity for the world. In most cases, however, educational systems do not realize the damage they are causing to the development of minds and the resulting negative consequences. Among the largest of these inadequate education systems is the American primary school system. The American education system is in fact failing; continues to rob children of their natural creativity and thirst for knowledge by preaching conformity, which in turn creates an unprepared and incompetent public. In the beginning there were elementary schools to meet the needs of a newly industrialized society. The subjects taught had the sole purpose of the student being able to secure a job with the ultimate goal of creating a workforce large enough to meet new social needs, creating the stigma that any subject that does not help secure a work is useless. Now that this goal has been achieved, the foundations of classical higher education have made their way into primary education seeking to destroy the aforementioned stigmatization towards non-career-oriented subjects. Only after hundreds of years, human beings as a whole are understanding that the only subject of education should be life and all its manifestations, without other distractions. For this reason the main ideas of education should be few, but very important. The ideas taught should be applicable to many scenarios and students should be thoroughly taught their application in life. A… paper medium… building America's education system?" Forbes. Forbes, Inc.
