Many believe that lowering the standards and changing the SAT will not make a difference because it will never be considered a test that measures a student's success. The College Board has tried to make some new changes, but the revision they made isn't good enough and should just stick to the old SAT. Revising the SAT will make students think less and will not show the student's natural aptitude abilities. Many oppose the recently revised SAT that will be released in 2016 and proclaim that there will be many benefits for a large number of students because it will not be as stressful or time-consuming as the old SAT. They firmly believe that lowering standards will prevent high school students from scoring higher on the SAT. Some say that revising the SAT will be beneficial to students because they will “now be able to write about their experiences and opinions, without penalties for incorrect entries,” on their essays (David Coleman). Many are pleased that the revised SAT is moving in the direction of achievement, rather than aptitude, because it was created "to make the test more closely reflect what high school students did in high school" ( Tamar Lewin). Many people are misled because they don't know enough information to know that there are many consequences when it comes to redesigning the SAT. However, the recently revised SAT will not encourage students to improve their reasoning skills and aptitude for their college level works. This is because the test is moving towards achievement, the results will only show what they have learned during high school and will not demonstrate their abilities to handle college work in the first two years. The king…half of the card…the scope is too narrow” (Williamson). Many of the changes that will be implemented in the SAT contain flaws and could cause a negative impact on academia. student careers nationwide. Even though the College Board has tried to make SAT funds much cheaper, they will always be considered a test of wealth because students who have money tend to score better. Overall, students' aptitude in reasoning skills will decrease due to the revision of the SAT.Works Citedhttp://chronicle.com/article/Most-Students-Are-Unprepared/141919/ (percentages) Yhttp://www .nytimes .com/2014/03/06/education/major-changes-in-sat-announced-by-college-board.html?_r=0 Yhttp://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2014/ 03/ 10/behind-the-sat-the-good-and-bad-of-the-2016-redesign Yhttp://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/19/opinion/the-trouble-with-online -college .html?_r=0Y
