Mental disorders have baffled psychiatrists, doctors, and the public since the beginning of time. Multiple personality disorder, also known as dissociative identity disorder, is a severe form of dissociation, a mental process that produces a lack of connection in a person's thoughts, memories, feelings, actions, or sense of identity . Dissociation is characterized by the presence of two or more distinct personalities, or alters, that control a person's behavior. “However, some documented cases of MPD have noted that patients had up to one hundred alter egos” (“Multiple Personality Residential Treatment”). These different alter egos have their own age, gender or race. Alter egos are alternative personalities, dissociated parts of the self that represent memories, emotions, and ways of relating to the person. I am able to function independently. The host is the original person, i.e. the one who is responsible for the body (“Dissociative Identity Disorder”). It is possible to develop multiple personality disorder through various components, but fortunately there is a cure. Multiple personality disorder is rare, but the causes of this difficult condition are consistent and predictable. Frequent abuse by family members, excessive stress, or even genetic factors can contribute to MPD. Trauma usually involves emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, but can also be linked to other significant traumatic events. To cope with trauma, people may separate the thoughts, feelings, and memories associated with troubling experiences from their usual level of conscious awareness. Primarily, bipolar disorder is due to extreme and repeated trauma that occurred during important periods of development, such as childhood growth. If one is physically, emotionally,...half......therapist, his goal is to heal the patient through relaxation, not to order him to do something based on his own beliefs. There is no surefire way to prevent multiple personality disorder. However, people with PMDD need immediate help before they put themselves in danger. If one's condition worsens, the individual can also put others in grave danger. This disorder is extremely difficult to treat, but it is not impossible. Through the help of dedicated psychologists and experts specializing in dissociative disorders, hope is possible. To further address the challenges of MPD, scientists should study and research more on this rare condition in order to improve the treatment process. Additionally, the public should be informed about what MPD is since it is such a rare disease. This way people are able to prevent it and educate others about this topic.
