Good morning/afternoon class and guest lady, today I have chosen to talk to you about the film Elysium. In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated and ruined earth. Secretary Delacort, a government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of Elysium's citizens. When Max finds himself cornered, he agrees to undertake a daunting mission that, if successful, will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds. The film is set both on a devastated Earth and in luxurious space. habitat called Elysium. Explores political and sociological themes such as immigration, overpopulation, healthcare, exploitation and class issues. From the issues raised in the film, you can already see that these contemporary issues relate precisely to the world we live in today. Director Neill Blomkamp's main message to the film is the material inequality that our world today is an outrage. This message brings me to the main points I will focus on this afternoon. Class issues and health care. Class issues affect how people live their lives, not only are they evident in the film, but they also exist in everyday life as we see it today. Some don't have the privileges like others. For example, third world countries do not have access to adequate education, employment, or adequate amounts of free time. Healthcare, on the other hand, can be related in exactly the same format. Some lack the resources needed to keep themselves and their communities healthy. Both class issues and healthcare are connected. In the center of the sheet a variety of interests Now there are four clear lines that show the different types of classes in which our society lives today. The upper class, the middle class, the working class and the lower class. class. These classes represent the way people live today and what I just read and what you have in front of you on your cards are the privileges that each class has to offer. This is not only evident in the film Elysium, but also relates to how our world is today. Put yourself in the shoes of those who have these certain privileges. How would you feel if you were in the position (say names) we are in? Well, this is the life some people face every day. These situations don't just happen in movies, they're happening right now as we speak. If I leave you with one message today it is to accept what is, let go of what was and have faith in what will be. Thanks for listening
