Every human being is called to fulfill his calling here on earth with the gifts and talents God has given him. As Christians we are called to please God in every area of our lives. Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” This means that in everything we do we must do our best to glorify our Heavenly Father. Even though business is considered an “evil” job because of all the rivalry it brings to different institutions, it can be used instrumentally by God to help develop and complete His Kingdom here on earth. This book is about how a businessman can glorify God by doing his job even though people might think that you can't glorify God in what they call “secular” jobs. In the following paragraphs I describe the six most important ideas I found in the text “Why God Matters to God.” The first most significant idea I found in this book is that God's purpose for business is to serve Him instrumentally in this business. Business generates the money needed to help support God's intended business. I believe the role of business as one of the most powerful institutions is to provide essential and creative work opportunities to create wealth. The second most important idea I have found is the role of humans as stewards of God's creation. It tells us to use Business as a service to humanity. It calls us to be good business leaders to be able to produce goods and services, manage them wisely and help the community develop. This will provide employment opportunities that allow potential workers to express their God-given gifts and talents. As Christians in business we must look... at the center of the paper... to be richer and not have the opportunity to know God. Business is important to God. The six main and significant ideas are: God's purpose for business is to serve Him instrumentally, the role of humans as stewards of God's creation, the identity crisis, the work of Christians in business must be made possible by the discernment and power of the Holy Spirit, the distorted relationship between institutions and how can Christians share their faith with other non-Christian co-workers around them. A company exists to serve and therefore cannot create rivalries or distortions between institutions. A company should work together in concert with other institutions and try to support them as they generally achieve the common good for society. Works Cited Van Duzer, Jeff.
