I feel like I can relate to Sammy in many ways being a male who is also 19 and I can observe the opposite sex (obviously in a respectable way) and I could do things to impress them or get their attention. And I have to have a job with bosses who constantly ridicule others, so I understand wanting to quit too. I also believe that at some point everyone has experienced the unknown. Our stories may not be exactly the same, but I think many will be able to relate to Sammy in their own way. This concludes this article: I am extremely tired and could, figuratively or literally, die of thirst right now. I want to end by saying that I really enjoyed “A&P” and that of all the stories we have read this semester “A&P” is by far my favorite. The story embeds itself in the reader in such an organic way that you begin to believe you are one with Sammy. John Updike does an amazing job exploring the mind of an adolescent male and describing everything in the process. I can continue, but as I said before I'm tired so I recommend it
