This South African swimmer has proven that deafness cannot stop him from achieving his dreams. In 1999 Terence Parkin had won a bronze at the Pan Pacific Championships. In 2000, Parkin competed in the Summer Olympics and won a silver medal in the 200 meter breaststroke. That same year he also won two silver medals at the FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships. Then at the 2001 Goodwill Games he won a gold medal. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games Terence had won a silver medal, a gold medal and another silver medal at the FINA World Aquatics Championships.
