The War on DrugsThe world has many different problems and without them the world would be a perfect place. One issue that causes much controversy is drug abuse. While the world can never be a perfect place, humans must still do our best to make it as habitable as possible, and drugs cause a lot of harm to humans. Therefore, I am convinced that the first thing to solve should be drugs and their abuse. There are many possible solutions to this problem. Drugs come from a wide variety of different places. Many come from plants but some, like heroin, must be chemically modified by morphine. The places where the drugs come from can be very common. Caffeine, which some don't know but is considered a drug, comes from cocoa beans, while nicotine comes from tobacco. In most cases, these drugs must be grown in their natural habitat, but they can also be grown in an artificial environment. Many times, because drug dealing is illegal, dealers will set up this environment in the basement of their home or some other discreet location (Vicc Drug Guide). As the common person may know, drugs are very expensive. Prescription drugs, while still expensive, are one of the cheapest routes to take. But it can also be dangerous, because it is easier for doctors to notice abuse. Americans are said to pay more for prescription drugs than any other country in the world (Brym and Lie). Another route a drug-addicted person can take is through the illegal drug trade, otherwise known as the black market. For example, in Colombia cocaine can cost around $1,500 a kilo, or around two pounds. Often the price of cocaine in America can reach a retail price of around $66,000.
