The world is full of people who aspire to do something great in their life, but then their hopes and dreams are taken away and they decide to give up on them, which leads them to lose their desire to live and pursue goals. Augusto Cury shows us that one man can change the outcome of someone's future life choices. A man can make dreams seem so attainable and achievable. A man can light the last remaining match in the hope of a stranger. In “The Dreamseller of Augusto Cury, we are introduced to a man we have seen as a Sage, a man who likes to sell dreams to people and add a simple coma to those who try to put an end to their lives. He brings new hope to the helpless and the lost, and proves it by saving a man from suicide, giving hope to a lost thief, and encouraging a woman who believes she will never find true love. When the Dream Seller first meets this man who tries to commit suicide. She finds him standing on a ledge. The man had set a goal of becoming a respected professor, but he had forgotten that people would not always be on his side or agree with him. The man is emotionally troubled and believes that his fame on earth must end after all the things he has been through, losing hope and even losing his wife due to his cheating. These are all the things he carries when he says: “I have already condemned myself to death. There is no more hope'' (Cury 11). The jumper masterfully knew that those who take their own lives, even those who plan their own deaths, cannot understand the depth of the pain they cause. He knew that if they could see the desperation of their loved ones and the inexplicable consequences of suicide, they would stand back and fight for… The sage known as the Dream Seller is the wise man who guides people to achieve fulfillment in life and to go through a phase of self-acceptance. It opens the eyes of those who are blinded by ignorance, gives hope to the hopeless who desperately seek love, and introduces a new world to closed-minded people who only want possessions. The contagious ideas of this Dreamseller have taught us not to deny who we really are. His ideas were an antidote; before meeting those three people, they had been hit by something. They worried about their image in society, about demanding too much of themselves, about punishing themselves, about constantly making demands on themselves. They had lost the joy, the simplicity of being. They were educated to work, to grow, to progress and unfortunately also to betray the very essence of their short existence. What kind of mental hospital we live in??
