“As of 2014, there are approximately 153 million orphans in the world” (Wiki Answers). This statistic is both sad and scary because all those children who have no parents are exposed to life without someone to take care of them and their basic needs. As you grow up, it can be extremely difficult at times to deal with your parents and not question them from time to time. All children sooner or later have some kind of problem with their parents or legal guardians. Parents are constantly taken for granted because children don't always understand how important their parents are when it comes to the role they play in their lives. The age group that receives the most complaints against parents is teenagers. In their eyes parents don't pay attention, they don't understand, they smother you, they don't listen to what you want, they treat you like you're a child, and the list goes on and on. We've all heard these complaints before, whether we heard them from someone else or we're the ones making the comments. However, what people don't always understand is that parents play a very important role in a child's life. Parents provide the child with love, acceptance, and stability, act as the child's primary role model, and care for the child to ensure that they are cared for and prepared for any obstacles that may come their way. When they come into the world they are vulnerable and can be harmed in myriad ways. However, these potential harms are not all physical. One way to hurt a child is to not show them any love or affection.
