Shilllong is a beautiful hill station in the state of Meghalaya. Every year many tourists from all over the country visit Shillong to experience its natural beauty in abundance. With daunting high peaks, there are many waterfalls falling from these peaks. These peaks present a beautiful sight for tourists to enjoy the natural scenery. Some of these waterfalls are: Bishop Falls and Beadon Falls in Shillong Bishop and Beadon Falls are two tall waterfalls located in the Suna valley within the city of Shillong in Meghalaya. The waterfalls are located off Guwahati road in Mawprem. The two waterfalls cascade with a good flow. The waterfalls are one of the major tourist destinations in Meghalaya. Bishop Falls is the 22 highest waterfalls in India. It is a three-tier waterfall. It has a height of 443 feet. The fall of the Bishop has a continuous flow. Beadon Waterfall is located 2 km from Bara Bazaar area. At the base of the waterfall there is a hydroelectric power plant. It is located near Bishop Falls. Both Bishop and Beadon Falls flow into the Umiam River. Bishop is also called the twin brother of Beadon Falls as both falls drop from the same ridge into a deep gorge. The rocky environment, green landscape and natural vegetation of the site enchanted the spectators. The crystal clear water of the waterfalls which plummets nearly 1000 feet to shatter the rocks below mesmerize the tourists. Bishop and Beadon waterfalls are located amidst dense forest. Tourists can also go trekking in the valley. Both waterfalls can be seen from a… middle of paper… walking distance from Lady Hydari Park. The sound of the gushing water can be heard even meters away. The top of Crinoline Falls is covered with green bushes and trees. At the base of the falls there is a Crinoline pool and is named after the falls. Shillong waterfalls Shillong The pool was initially developed for the purpose of relaxation of convalescing soldiers during the Second World War. After the war, however, it was managed by a private agency and was opened to the local people of Shillong. After a few decades, the management of the swimming pool was taken over by the State Sports Authority. Swimming is one of the swimming pool's sporting activities. There is also a restaurant near the waterfalls with different types of cuisine for tourists. The Meghalaya Tourism Department regularly conducts programs and events at the poolside.
