Topic > Deviation from nature is a deviation from happiness

2010). The robotic lifestyle that urbanization brings with it has a greater impact on us than we think. In addition to having a repetitive schedule each day that usually includes a cycle between work, school, and sleep with other responsibilities thrown into the mix, we can become mentally exhausted. The need to get away from it all is one of the main reasons why people continually travel and explore different parts of the world. Taking a “break” from the typical urban lifestyle isn't the only reason we feel a sense of relaxation being outdoors. On a biological level, that good feeling we get from being outdoors and getting a breath of fresh air comes from the fact that our great ancestors survived far from the land and that we still carry that instinct (Ryan et al. 2010). Many people also have nature landscape wallpapers that give them a relaxing feeling when looking at them. Luckily, some of the most beautiful places in these photos, like Niagara Falls, have strong environmental protections as they are a huge tourist attraction for a reason. Furthermore, most of the food we eat comes from farms and this simply shows that urban cities depend on rural areas for their food production. With the current problems of erosion, pollution and urbanization of rural areas… how would human happiness be affected by these changes in the world?
