Problem Statement Based on the case study that has been examined, there are three obvious problems that the manager of Walmart in Japan faces: cultural misunderstandings, high competition from of local and international companies and Supply chain inefficiency. Some of the problems are caused by certain causes, such as the idea that one business model fits all and the differences between the operating and cultural (demographic) environment in Walmart's home market and the Japanese market. Studies (REF?) suggest that factors such as highly inefficient processes and culture clashes can hinder an organization's movement towards growth and profit. Overall, most problems that arise are caused by short-term issues that, if ignored, are magnified into important long-term issues. After further review, it is then necessary for the manager to address the short-term issues before managing the long-term issues to ensure the smooth functioning of the organization.
