This theory of film perception is similar to the behaviorist approach to stimulus-response. The presentation of the film represents the stimulus and response of the viewer with the ability to form a perception: in this case perception is movement. Hugo Münsterberg highlights the aesthetic qualities that cinema can produce, such as emotions and feelings. Hugo was a German psychologist and a pioneer of applied psychology. He published many works in the United States, one of which was called The Photoplay. He wrote this text after seeing the 1914 film Neptune's Daughter: he was amazed by it and decided to analyze the cinematic medium. He compared the film to the workings of the human mind and was very interested in the art of movement
