The sense of freedom is something that, regardless of where we are and how we live, we can experience in countless ways and in different places. However, being bound does not necessarily mean being imprisoned or enclosed by walls and fences. Likewise, we may feel overwhelmed, surrounded, trapped, even if we are in the freest places in the world. The question is: do we have the courage to fight to obtain the freedom we desire? In the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, director Milos Forman shows that even though some might say freedom comes by simply doing nothing, it takes courage to fight for freedom. First of all, at a certain point in the film the atrocities of the patients in the sanatorium are shown, the techniques used in the patients such as the use of drugs, electroshock and lobotomy as methods of repression of human free will. These types of techniques are considered "politically incorrect" and undesirable methods established by dictatorial society to impose rules of punishment and submission.
