There was no real evidence that eternal life existed. Humans have never gotten to this point due to aging and death-causing diseases. The reason why people desperately yearn for the eternal is the fear of death, especially the unknown of what comes next. This fear pushes many to believe that there must be a succession of events immediately after death. However, this suggests that there is no proof of immortality, but it is a set of beliefs created by humanity to reassure death, and many philosophers such as David Hume disapproved of it. There are two phenomena for which many scientists are still searching for a better explanation. the out-of-body experiment (OBE) and the near-death experience (NDE). Even though they seem similar, they have one thing in common: the infinite experience with the soul. There are many cases where people have undergone such experiment. The problem, however, arises when there is no scientific evidence, but only proclamations and testimonies. Can these facts be considered evidence? A study on NDEs was conducted in 2001. A 23-year-old singer, Pam Reynolds, had died during an operation (BBC Web). His observation of the afterlife had left scientists wondering about its existence, however nothing proves whether this happened or it could simply be that the subject is experiencing a hallucination or dream (Clark Web). Recent research ''shows that different parts of the brain are more likely responsible for out-of-body experiences and near-death experiences'' (Clark Web). Many philosophers will disapprove of immortality. One of the philosophers, David Hume, explains his theory on miracles. In his argument he explains it with an example of equilibrium in which a plate represents the... center of the card... death is prescribed by the law of nature. Humanity seeks survival and therefore death becomes a threat to them. This explains why human beings will tend to believe that there is such a thing as eternal life, that death is the end of worldly life and the beginning of a promising life given by God. However, if someone wants to believe in the afterlife, then this state of faith will always overcome everything else together with the law of nature. Works Cited Clark, Josh.
