Throughout history, there have been many human beings who have been seen as heroes or villains. In their childhood, these people must have had obstacles in their way, forcing each individual to work harder or give up. The people, however; We must understand that every individual has a potential to achieve their goals, but if one is mistreated or deceived due to jealousy, resentment, hatred or ambition, it can lead to many catastrophic events. Proud and arrogant people don't want to have equals, rather they want to see their victims suffer. These people have no difficulty achieving their goals because their victims are too innocent in nature to suspect the nefarious motives of their enemies. In this tragedy, Othello, Shakespeare created a villain who behaves this way. Iago's hatred, method of revenge, and vengeful hatred are the reasons for the lives lost in this play and the reasons that lead to Iago's downfall. Iago's hatred for Othello and Cassio drives him to seek revenge and he is able to succeed because his victims are too innocent to suspect him. Iago is a Machiavellian Shakespearean character who cunningly convinces his victims of his full moral support and proves his innocence so that his victims do not suspect him. When Cassio ends his conversation with Desdemona about how he will not get his job back, Iago reveals his malicious plan against Desdemona when he says that "so I will turn her virtue to pitch, And by her own goodness I will make the net that shall entangle them all" (Shakespeare, 49) Iago plans to destroy the marriage between Othello and Desdemona by using Desdemona's kindness towards Cassio against her and making her appear unfaithful in front of her noble husband...... middle of paper ..... .d leads to the death of many innocent characters and strips away each person's individuality and confidence, all to gain power and recognition. Othello is not only a tragedy, but also an important reminder of how people are easily deceived to gain power and recognition. Shakespeare's Othello stands as a warning to all generations. Some historians agree that William Shakespeare may have been one of the first psychologists in human history, as it allowed him to create a character as devious and Machiavellian as Iago. Today we study psychopathic historical figures like Adolf Hitler who annihilated millions of Jews in the name of revenge. It is human nature to be vindictive and get what you want.
