Cultural change occurs among established inhabitants who strive to maintain their societies in the face of growing cultural diversity in the midst of this situation. Both consolidated and newer populations are involved in the acculturation process. Although the research findings cannot be generalized to other cultures, nevertheless some evidence shows that the actual concept of acculturation, the different strategies embraced by immigrants and members of the national society, and the nature of the problems may be similar to those of research in other countries (Berry, 2005). Acculturation is a concept of cultural change that results from intercultural contact and occurs in both the dominant and non-dominant groups. Acculturation is distinguished from assimilation due to a series of alternative paths and goals to the acculturation process. Acculturation presents important distinctions for psychological work (Berry,
