Topic > The influences of the gossip industry - 1072

The gossip industry has become popular in recent decades. Our society likes to know about the lives of celebrities. We are obsessed with celebrities on gossip sites and are even obsessed to the point of stalking these celebrities. This industry has had a huge impact on our culture. It has tainted our culture in many ways, from creating bad role models for our children to making stalking an everyday affair; In any case, the media has significantly changed our society. The gossip industry has brought new entertainment for our pleasure, but it has had negative consequences. Our entertainment has changed because of the media. Nowadays, tabloid magazines and gossip websites are among the major forms of entertainment. People love reading the next new article about their favorite celebrity or their favorite celebrity's meltdown to watch. Before all the gossip, many people actually read the newspaper to read about important things happening in our society. Now, a lot of news is just celebrity information instead of important information like politics. For example, right now it wouldn't be uncommon for the front page headline to be about Miley Cyrus' latest antics instead of the crucial government shutdown. We are slowly losing our old way of providing honest and important information. The celebrity gossip industry has influenced our assumptions about entertainment. Usually, we assume that entertainment is just fun, that entertainment is just a reflection of our culture, and that entertainment is a personal choice. Nowadays entertainment is not just fun. Celebrities entertain us in many ways, but sometimes we don't like what they do and yet we watch them anyway. For example, many teen idols have had breakdowns. Even if it's not fun...... middle of paper......positive articles compared to the usual negatives. Our society needs to stop the gossip industry because it only makes our culture worse. Our society is going in the wrong direction, and if we continue down this path, our society will only suffer more in the distant future. We need to take control of our gossip-based entertainment because it is becoming less entertaining and more harmful to our culture.
