Anyone who lives in Norway for more than 12 months and works and pays taxes is covered by the government-funded national insurance, which mainly covers general medical care, l hospital care and emergency care. This system allows every qualifying Norwegian resident to obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Specialized care is available and covered by private health insurance. In terms of efficiency, Norway ranked 11th and Cambodia 174th out of 191 countries. This article will compare three major health problems in Norway and Cambodia – mental health, alcohol abuse and nutrition – and how they are addressed in each.
