Topic > Air Quality in the Yuba-Sutter Area - 1149

Poor air quality has affected several cities around the world in recent years. It is an important environmental issue that should be addressed because it is significant for our health. Local areas are particularly susceptible to these horrific conditions due to their small stature. The Yuba-Sutter area has been affected by this environmental problem for several years. It is a recurring problem that seems to affect our area every year, especially during the hot months. Some years are better than others, but it's still a problem that should be fixed. Solving such a big problem can't be an easy task, but with the help of the community anything can be possible. Our community can help improve air quality by implementing various solutions that benefit the air. Air quality is an important issue in our Yuba-Sutter area. Usually during the summer the air is of low quality. In most cases this is caused by fires in distant areas that reach our area thanks to the wind. Wildfires make the air smoky, ashy and difficult to breathe. These conditions can last for days until the fire is put out. Living in this unhealthy air can have harmful effects on our health. Although this problem has improved over the years, it is still an issue that should not be taken lightly. When the air is bad, health problems arise. People with and without asthma have difficulty breathing in these circumstances and may even need medical attention if exposed to the air for long periods of time. For example, the Feather River Air Quality Management District commented on smoke from two local fires: "The very small particles in the smoke can irritate the lungs of even healthy people, but are especially dangerous for older adults, children... of paper......and who will do it? We want clean and healthy air, we need to make this statement clear to those who affect our air quality make the right decisions that will only benefit our air and community.
