Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer came into the world at 4:34 pm on May 21 at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee in 1960. His parents did not know at the time of his birth that their son would become one of America's most infamous serial killer, not only for the amount of victims he had killed, but also for having dismembered them and for his strange tendencies. Jeffrey's childhood began like any other, he had two parents who loved and adored his son dearly. They would give him everything his heart desired. Joyce Dahmer started a notebook about her son recording events that happened in his life, his first step, his first accident, his first tooth, his first haircut and even his first scolding. While Jeffrey was still very young, his father worked long hours in his workshop and his mother worked as a machine trainer. But carrying Jeffrey had been hard on Joyce Dahmer, and every little thing seemed to bother her. So Lionel, being the husband he was and wanting the best for his wife, decided to move to his mother's house in West Allis, but the cracks in the marriage soon began to show. There were constant arguments between Joyce and Lionel Dahmer and Jeffrey had a thing for each other. of these heart battles. They did not realize that the constant fighting would be one of the reasons for Jeffrey's downfall and eventual collapse into deviant crimes. Shortly before his fourth birthday, Jeffrey was diagnosed with a double hernia that required surgery. This operation left Jeffrey with a sense of openness and no one explained to him what was happening. He felt scared of the operation, of complete strangers approaching him and exploring his body. It is said that this experience marked his subconscious forever. But like any kid Jeffrey's age, he was just like everyone else who climbed apple trees, rode his bike, played in the coal dust, and came home dirty. Although he was terribly shy while growing up, he managed to overcome this in time and have a normal social life at school. When Jeffrey turned six, his mother gave birth to a second son whom she named David. While this did not have a dramatic effect on Dahmer's life, he remained rather neutral towards his brother's existence and they never became close. Upon the birth of his second child, Lionel Dahmer and his family moved into their home at 4480 West Bath Road, surrounded by an open forest where Jeffrey could lose himself in a world of make-believe..
