Most people when they are here in Dharavi, Mumbai, India think of Slumdog Millionaire. The reason they think of Slumdog is the fact that it only came out a few years ago. In the film he describes Dharavi as one of the poorest slums in the world. After further research Dharavi is not poor at all, which I will explain later. As for my other city, I choose Rocinha, Rio de Janeiro, as they will host the World Cup this summer and will also host the 2016 Summer Olympics. Dharavi is more in the city but not in the center of Mumbai. From what it looks like the surrounding area seems to be a little better as there is some space between the houses; while people in Dharavi are literally on top of each other. There is little to no space between the houses. It wasn't expected when people started building their homes as well as some high-rise apartments in the northwest section.
