It's always nice to have someone in your family who is the same age and gender. This can help you with your challenges in life and make it easier to relate to. When you have no one it is difficult to find someone close enough to you who can help you in times of need. Entertainment can also become a great necessity when you are alone. Having a sibling who is similar in age and gender can give you something to do more often. Growing up I was always seven years younger than my brother, which makes it difficult to relate to him. When I was younger and starting school I had no one to turn to for advice and style. Being a girl with a brother I wasn't sure what the style was at school. My mother or father would buy me clothes and choose them so that it was what I would wear. I had no one to tell me what school was like at the time because my brother was seven years beyond the point where I was starting. Having a huge age difference with my brother also made me very shy. It was difficult for me to talk to others because I didn't know how or what to talk about. When I got to my first day of school I waited for people to start talking to me and I didn't make many friends that way. I had few friends and the number would gradually grow over time. Not having siblings my age made me love going to school. When I got home I wouldn't have anyone to play with, so I couldn't wait to go to school the next day. Not having siblings of the same age or gender can have an effect on how well a person does in school. As I grew up my father remarried allowing me to have two sisters every two years from my age. The years passed and I grew closer and closer to Kathleen and Colleen. I was able to follow their style and see what to wear when I was in school. I was also able to always have someone to hang out with and talk to. I looked up to my older sister in terms of style and things to do. I always wanted to do what she did and I wanted to do exactly what she did.
