Examining Myself as a Writer The process of examining myself as a writer is not easy. Writing, for me, has never been an easy task. Many times I have sat for hours contemplating my blank piece of paper just trying to figure out how to start writing the creative writing assignment due in a few days for my high school English class. I knew that learning to write well took patience and practice, just like learning any other skill. I remember the long, difficult hours spent developing my skills as a skateboarder. I knew I had to find the same attitude to develop my writing skills. I also knew that I wanted to continue my education and earn a law degree. My writing skills definitely needed to be developed. This September I found myself no longer being a high school student. I am now a freshman at the University of Dayton. As a high school student in Puerto Rico, I competed with other Puerto Rican students who had English as a second language. Now I panicked because I'm immersed in a totally English-speaking environment. I wasn't sure if my ideas would work...
