Every day in every province of Canada, animals are beaten, neglected, abused and abandoned, forcing them to fight for their survival. Every second, around the world, huge numbers of animals suffer pain worse than you or I could ever imagine, at the hands of humans. (http://www.animal-rights-action.com/animal-cruelty.html) Would you like to sleep in your own filth, feeling abandoned and unwanted, struggling to find what could be your last meal? Left in unsanitary conditions, with little or no food and water, they have little hope of surviving or finding compassion. Living on what little hope there is for a better tomorrow. Some have been found and saved, given the chance to survive with love and experience a great life, where others are not so lucky. Having no control or blame over the matter, just too much effort to deal with, no real excuses or reasons, just abandonment. The treatment of animals is immoral and wrong. Ethics being defined as the moral principles that govern a person's behavior or carrying out an activity, our world is governed by this, yet animals are still forgotten. To grow not only as a community but also as a nation, we must stand up and fight for the rights of these animals, and speak for them and with them. One of the first steps to protecting animals is creating a safer environment for them, such as creating effective cruelty laws. Making everyone who owns a pet understand that it is not an easy or cheap job and that it is their responsibility to treat that animal as if it were a child. There are two types of animal cruelty: passive cruelty and active cruelty. Passive cruelty involves omission, abuse occurs as a result of negligence. Many people see this… middle of paper… ourselves.
