First, I argued that volunteering helps students improve their resumes. Volunteering shows employers that the student is well-rounded and selfless; the skills the student learns in volunteering can be used in his future career. Secondly, I discussed the benefits that volunteering has on the body and mind, both physically and mentally. Students who volunteer have lower mortality rates, greater functional abilities, and lower rates of depression later in life than those who do not volunteer. Finally, I demonstrated how volunteering improves the community as a whole. Being in college is a community unto itself, so volunteering through programs offered by your college is a great way to become one
