David LaChapelle's work can be seen everywhere you turn, whether on a magazine rack, an album cover, an advertisement, or even a music video. Dubbed the "New Surrealist," LaChapelle's vivid, colorful, bizarre and humorous images have been admired by millions and have made him one of the most famous photographers alive today. Since the beginning of his professional career, LaChapelle's work has attracted the attention of many other artists, celebrities, journalists and ordinary people. I first noticed his work on magazine ads several years ago. I immediately felt attracted to his images: they are photographs that I could stare at for hours, reproducing in my head the story that each photograph tells and what it says about the character of the individual it is portraying. I'm amazed at how he manages to pick up on certain quirks of the subject's personality and build entire scenes around the unusual parts of their character. Every work he creates is anything but banal: even his simplest images tell a story. Born in Connecticut in 1969, David LaChapelle learned to love the art of photography at an early age. He grew up watching his mother, a non-professional photographer with a talent for capturing a fantasy life on film, whose influence can still be seen in his work today. He began taking photographs in high school, where he said his original inspiration was "white-trash culture." After graduation, he moved to North Carolina to attend the North Carolina School of Arts, where he trained as an artist. Shortly thereafter, at the age of nineteen, David LaChapelle made the decision to move to the Lower East Side of New York and enrolled in both the Arts Student League and the School of Visual Arts. .....like in Las Vegas. The show received many four-star reviews, including one from Rolling Stone magazine, which states "David LaChapelle created a dizzying, sexy, thrilling spectacle that parodied expectations of Las Vegas glitz and gave new life and meaning to fifteen of John's strongest songs." With all these accomplishments, it's easy to see why David LaChapelle has captured the attention of millions of people, including his favorite photographer, Helmut Newton. He essentially gave birth to a new genre of photography, and his work has become a source of inspiration for many emerging photographers, including Michael Anthony, Frizzy Cube and others. It's hard to believe that David LaChapelle could get any more amazing. The world can only expect even more amazing things from this talented artist in the years to come, and I think it's an honor to write my article about this living legend..
