It's just a scene where the kids realize that parents are people too. When Samantha's co-worker/suspected boyfriend, played by Kristin Chenoweth, shows up at the family kidnapping is an example of this. Another is the scene where the parents discuss what went wrong in their relationship after the family therapy session with the puppets. Children seem to listen to this dialogue between their parents and realize that they are not superheroes, they are people. Throughout the film, Emily tries to make her family normal. It's only at the conclusion that he realizes a much bigger message than just wanting his family to be normal. For example when she confesses to being the freak queen; she's trying to be herself and that her family will never be normal. The moral of the story is that family is family and not everyone can be normal and we should accept differences. The movie Family Weekend is a movie that should be shown more appreciation. The cast showed emotional depth in many instances throughout the film's progression. The extreme plot and characters were unpredictable, which made it so uneven. The moral messages portrayed in the film are what make audiences connect so well with the film. I ask you to consider all the points I have made and look at the film from another point of view.
